Well, since my last journal entry it's been a roller coaster thanks to this pandemic. CostumeCon was cancelled when hubby and I were just an hour away from arriving. We stayed a few days in Montreal to enjoy the museums and see friends and try to make the best of it anyway, but alas, no vindication for the months of work on my costumes and no photos either.
Since then, most of my events have been cancelled up to summer so far. Gryphcon cancelled, Halton Hills Fanfest cancelled, Ad-Astra cancelled, even Anime North (no skin off my back as I hadn't planned to attend anyway if I didn't get off the waitlist, but still, that's the first time in over 20 years running that the con has had to cancel). SO FAR, the only event that I'm signed up for and hasn't cancelled yet is Robin in the Hood in early June. But there's no telling if they'll still be running.
I've been slowly, and unmotivatedly, plugging away at restocking for what would have been my spring season. I intend to get more items into my storenvy in the coming weeks, but Canada Post is making shipping difficult. They're still open, but experiencing big delays and it's a wait for packing materials as well if you need to order online.
Hubby is also temporarily out of work as his workplace has shut down due to being nonessential, so while we have savings and my own meager income, and possibly the Covid-specific EI he may be eligible for here in Canada, it's time to tighten the purse strings for a bit so I won't be working on anything I don't already have materials on hand for for a while. Also the fabric stores and many of the craft supply shops are also closed, so getting supplies is getting complicated. I did my stock-up trip just before the closure of non-essential businesses here to get most of my stock made, but with all this and so far to go before any *possible* vending event I'm also very much unmotivated to keep sewing. I did plan out my Coldwater Steampunk costume for the year and can get a start on it with a fair bit of what I already have on hand, but I don't want to blaze ahead too far on it in case it also cancels.
Unfortunately, there's really nothing to do but take the changes day by day. I'm at least counting my blessings that being an introvert already means it's no skin off my back to stay home and not go out anywhere.

As the title says, I'll be in Montreal for CostumeCon this weekend, and as we're driving there over two days each way (when only one of you drives, an eight hour trip through three major cities isn't much fun if you try to make it in a day), and basically gone for the week. But at least I should have some pictures when I get back! I haven't been hunkered down in the studio for months doing nothing but working on the two costumes not to take any pictures or video.
Also, my next confirmed con for vending will be Ad-Astra, back to the first weekend of May, but another two small events before that are likely (just not confirmed yet). I'm also so low on the Anime North waiting list this time that I can effectively say I'm not going this year, and will be spending my time at an SCA event instead.

I've been gone a while, so long I had the awful new Eclipse format foisted on me when I logged back in again (YUCK. Glad the option to keep the old format is still there. It does NOT work.)
So, yeah. I'm alright, mostly, but I was both busy as heck through the fall and winter, burned out on social media and the cumbersome uploading for dA, and often lacking in new stuff to upload or good photo setups to get pictures of new stock, so I kind of let my account fall right out for the last couple months. But I've caught up on things again, so hopefully now I can get back to putting stuff on it.
SO, I had a busy summer of outdoor faires and indoor cons, and a very profitable one! This coming year is looking to be a continuation of the same. Lots of outdoor events through summer, and spring is not 100% planned out right now... I'm attending CostumeCon in March with a costume made of fabulous sparkling sequins and organza, hoping to vend at our local Gryphcon in April, vending Ad-Astra which moved back to May AND a new location, I missed the Anime North crafters app opening yesterday and so I probably have zero chance of getting in because you have about ten minutes to get a spot (so, probably not going this year), possibly a small event in Georgetown, then we're into summertime's faire season!
I also finally joined the SCA, and I'm hoping to get some decent shots of all that medieval garb I keep making. We're still dealing with a house that hates any photography in it...

July's gone, now it's August, and apologies for the delays again, I've been both busy and a bit burned out on the online part of my artistry so I haven't done much on any of the social media for the last few weeks.

So, cons and events. This month I have my summer hilight of the Coldwater Steampunk festival, for fun again and no vendor's table. I have a new outfit, though, I'm looking forward to finally having some new photos!
I don't think I have a chance at Waterloo's Royal Medieval faire at this point due to the complete non-communication that's gone on and it now only being about 7 weeks away, so at the moment I have no idea what I'll be doing in September and October. The next con that I'm almost 100% guaranteed to be vending at will be Fan Days in December.

And for what I'm working on? Still need to photograph some stock I made months ago (Light Fury cubes will EVENTUALLY get shown... sigh.) and I have new 14th century garb made for myself and Furilas that still hasn't gotten proper photos. Apologies for not uploading much of anything- I either haven't had time to get a backdrop up, items posed or put on mannequins, photos done with the right light and etc. (the living room is *still* only half moved-in so photo spaces are kind of lacking, my sewing room is too cluttered and our bedroom in the new place is quite dark), or the photos I took wound up looking awful and I want to retake them.
For personal stuff, I'm finishing up my newest 1880's outfit for Coldwater next week, and I'll be getting photos of it, and maybe some more good quality ones of my Victorian Ravenclaw dress, done at the event. And as I've fallen hard for The Dragon Prince, I'm also going to hopefully be putting together a Claudia cosplay over the summer and fall (or, over fall/winter and bring to CostumeCon). And am seriously considering having Furilas cosplay as Aaravos... I also need to get started on my CostumeCon build, I'm in the "finalize just what I'm making/designing" stage at the moment, but I've been too busy to actually do anything with it yet!

Okay, that's all for now! I don't have much journalling time here so my Facebook has more up-to-date updates for things.

CONS&EVENTS
August: Coldwater Steampunk Festival, August 9&10th (Fun)
September: Possibly Waterloo medieval fair. Too early to be sure yet.
October: No set plans, but I never leave Halloween uncelebrated!
November: Guelph Santa Claus Parade, date not determined yet
(Possibly) Villain-Con in Belleville, as they cancelled 2018 (AA, won't go if I don't get in)
December: December Fan Days holiday show, no date yet but always in early December

And possibly others! I'll update this thing as needed.

And, my cosplay and costume plans for the year;
Make and debut in 2019:
-1880's mix-and-match outfit set
-Bean (Disenchanted), planned for Anime North
-More medieval stuff!
-Claudia (Dragon Prince), if I have time. Would debut around Halloween or the Santa Claus parade if so.

Rewearing in 2019:
-1890's summer and winter suits (various historical and steampunk events)
-14th century medieval garb (renfaires and SCA)
-Dark Brotherhood shrouded robes (Genrecon)
-Toothless hoodie (Genrecon and the last movie)
-Abigail (Anime North)
-1890's Canada Day dress (Possibly Ad-Astra, Canada Day if weather permits, maybe some steampunk get-togethers)
-1880's Ravenclaw dress (Anime North, Coldwater steampunk festival, hopefully another Harry Potter festival, and I still need a photoshoot too!)
-Mourning dress (Possibly Halloween)
-Heather (Possibly Santa Claus parade, and hopefully another event or photoshoot)

June is over, we're into July (sorry it's late. Canada Day plus going out hiking and whatnot). I do have plhnty to update on, though!
First up, an announcement of sorts- I've decided to stop doing con reviews on ones I only attended for vending purposes. I don't really get up to enough to find it worth writing any more. I'll still do them for ones I attend for fun only, however (next one for that will be the Coldwater Steampunk festival).

So, cons and events. It'll still be a busy one for us this month! I have my usual Ad-Astra from July 12-14th vending, and I *should* be good to vend at the Fergus medieval faire on July 27th (still waiting on my vendor's permit, stupid bureaucracy...). I'm also hoping to attend a day of an SCA event in the weekend between those two.
I also am still hoping to be applying to Waterloo's Royal medieval faire in September, but I've had nothing but silence to any emails i sent inquiring. My next normal con after this month? Not sure. December Fan Days is pretty much a definite but I'm hoping to get one more in for the fall season, especially if Waterloo doesn't happen.

And for what I'm working on? I've just finished re-stocking from the renfaires, and I have a new set of dragon cube designs to debut at Fergus (photos soon, hopefully- finishing them up this and next week). EDIT- Sorry, they turned out to not be do-able for the intended price, so no new cubes for the moment! Apologies for not uploading much of anything- I either haven't had time to get a backdrop up, items posed or put on mannequins, photos done with the right light and etc. (the living room is still only half moved-in so photo spaces are kind of lacking), or the photos I took wound up looking awful and I want to retake them.
For personal stuff, I've finally started on my Coldwater outfit and have quite a bit to do (finished the underskirt, need to make my overskirt, a blouse and a new French bonnet), and am about to get designing/starting CostumeCon's crazy builds. And as I've fallen hard for The Dragon Prince, I'm also going to hopefully be putting together a Claudia cosplay over the summer to hopfully debut in the fall (or, over fall/winter and bring to CostumeCon). And am seriously considering having Furilas cosplay as Aaravos...

Okay, that's all for now! I don't have much journalling time here so my Facebook has more up-to-date updates for things.
